Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) National President BC Bhartia and National General Secretary Praveen Khandelwal said in a joint statement today that in this year’s Diwali season, there was a record breaking trade of more than Rs 3.75 lakh crore in the markets across the country. And on all the festivals, Indian goods were purchased extensively by the customers. There are still festivals left like Govardhan Puja, Bhaiya Dooj, Chhath Puja and Tulsi Vivah in which there is a possibility of more business worth Rs 50 thousand crores.
Shock of Rs 1 lakh crore to China
This time China suffered a big loss in business worth more than Rs 1 lakh crore on Diwali festival. In previous years, during Diwali festivals, the goods made from China used to get about 70% market in India, which was not available at all this time. No businessman in the country imported any Diwali related item from China this year. Clearly this is the effect of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Vocal for Local and Self-reliant India campaign. CAT launched the Indian Product-Sabka Ustad campaign across the country this Diwali which was very successful and received huge support from customers across the country.
There was a rapid sale of these things
Praveen Khandelwal said that according to a rough estimate, out of the festival business of Rs 3.5 lakh crore, about 13% is in food and grocery, 9% in jewellery, 12% in clothes and garments, 4% in dry fruits, sweets and snacks, 3% in household items. Furnishings, 6% Cosmetics, 8% Electronics & Mobiles, 3% Pooja Samagri & Puja Items, 3% Utensils & Kitchen Appliances, 2% Confectionery & Bakery, 8% Gift Items, 4% Furnishings & Furniture and the remaining 20% Automobiles, Spent by customers on hardware, electrical, toys and many other goods and services. Packing business across the country also got a big market this Diwali.
The effect of Vocal for Local is visible
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given a call to buy locally made goods during Diwali festivals, the big impact of which was visible in the entire country. Products made by local manufacturers, artisans and artists from all the cities of the country were sold in large quantities, due to which a special tableau of self-reliant India was shown to the country and the world through the Diwali festival.
