Mahindra TharSUV Bookings reached 76 thousand units in November 2023. Due to this, the waiting period of SUV has reached 14 months. That means, if you book Mahindra Thar now, its delivery will be around 2025. If the figures are to be believed, this SUV is getting around 10 thousand bookings every month.
To meet the demand and reduce the waiting period, Mahindra & Mahindra is manufacturing approximately 5000 units of Thar every month. Mahindra Thar is in strong demand due to its off-roader capabilities. Due to its powerful engine and available in both petrol and diesel options, this SUV is being liked by the customers.

Mahindra Thar can be purchased in both four wheel drive (4WD) and rear wheel drive (RWD) configurations. In this you will get the option of both petrol and diesel engines. The SUV has a 2.0 liter petrol engine, which generates power of 150bhp and torque of 300Nm. Apart from this, there is also the option of 1.5 liter diesel engine (117bhp/300Nm output) and 2.0 liter diesel engine (130bhp/320Nm output).
The waiting period of Thar also depends on its variants. The demand for the RWD diesel variant of Thar is high, whereas the variant period for its petrol model is slightly less (about 5 to 6 months). Whereas for 4 wheel drive model, customers will have to wait for 24 weeks and 6 months.
New Mahindra Thar will come soon
Mahindra is preparing to launch a 5-door version of Thar. This car has been spotted testing several times in India. It is expected that this SUV will be launched next year. Like the 3-model, this car will also come in petrol/diesel engine option. The price of 5-door Mahindra Thar can be almost the same as Mahindra Scorpio-N. Once launched, it will compete with the Maruti Jimny 5-door and the upcoming Force Gurkha 5-door.
