IND Vs NED: Mohammed Siraj Gets Hit On Throat While Attempting A Catch In Bengaluru – WATCH – The Daily Connection

Bengaluru: Mohammed Siraj hurt his throat while attempting a catch against the Netherlands in the final ODI World Cup 2023 league encounter at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday. The incident took place in the 15th over bowled by Kuldeep Yadav. Netherlands opener Max ODowd, while trying to break the shackles went big and miscued the shot. The ball went high up in the air with Siraj settling underneath, trying to reverse cup. But the Indian pacer missed it and the ball hit his throat.

He stood his ground for a while but soon went out of the ground with the BCCI medical team taking care of him.

He eventually returned back to the field after a brief stay outside the ground. Earlier, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul struck magnificent centuries as India produced a solid batting display to post a mammoth 410/4 while batting first.

Iyer (128 not out off 94 balls) slammed a career-best ODI ton, while KL Rahul (102 off 64 balls) hit the fastest World Cup hundred by an Indian as the duo added 208 runs off 128 balls. Rohit Sharma (61), Virat Kohli (51) and Shubman Gill (51) also scored sizzling fifties after India opted to bat.

For the Dutch, Bas de Leede (2/82), Paul van Meekeren (1/90) and Roelof van der Merwe (1/53) shared the wickets.
